Goa's legendary flea and Saturday night markets, crafts, food and live music. Park up and wander.
Markets are woven into Goa's hippie history, and two in the north are unmissable. Between them they cover day and night, crafts and clubbing, bargains and live music, and both are best reached on your own set of wheels.
Anjuna Flea Market
Held every Wednesday in season, the Anjuna Flea Market is the original, a sprawling open-air bazaar of clothes, jewellery, instruments, spices and trinkets from across India. It runs from morning until sunset, so come early before the heat builds.
Saturday Night Market, Arpora
A completely different vibe, the Saturday Night Market at Arpora is part shopping, part festival. Stalls of designer crafts and global street food surround a stage with live bands and DJs. It runs late into the night and is the best night out that does not involve a club.
What to look for
- Handmade crafts — leather, silver, textiles and art from Goa, Rajasthan and Tibet.
- Global food — everything from Goan prawns to wood-fired pizza and crepes.
- Live music — the Arpora stage pulls genuinely good acts in season.
Getting there on two wheels
Both markets are in North Goa, Anjuna is about 20 minutes from Calangute and Arpora sits just inland between Baga and Anjuna. Parking fills fast, especially on Saturday night, so a scooter that slips into a tight spot is a real advantage. Markets run mainly from November to April.
Local tips
- Haggle, it is expected, start at half and meet in the middle.
- Carry cash in small notes; not every stall takes cards or UPI.
- For Arpora, ride in before 8pm to beat the worst of the parking crush.
